Francesca Ann Genovese has been dancing for 17 years. She began her dance training at age 4 at the Deborah MacKay School of Dance under the tutelage of Deborah Tiffany in Rochester, New York. Genovese is set to begin her fifth season with the Company. Before joining CBT in 2004, Genovese trained with many nationally and internationally recognized teachers and choreographers including Chet Walk, the choreographer of Fosse on Broadway and Denise Jefferson at The Ailey School, the school of the Alvin Alley Dance Company. In 2003, she trained with The American Academy of Ballet in Amherst, New York. In 2003 and 2004, Genovese received full scholarships to dance with the Garth Fagan School in Rochester, New York. Her repertoire with the Company includes Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker; Nikiya in Le Bayadere; the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella; Carabosse in The Sleeping Beauty; Tarde Flamenca and Helen Keller in Celebration of Women; and other leading roles in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Le Corsaire, Ramonda, Paquita, Pulling the Strings, Dreams, It Takes Tu-Tu Tango, and Unhinged. Genovese has also become an accomplished choreographer. Genovese choreographed the piece Bicycle Race in CBT’s 2007 production during Artisphere. She also choreographed Take off With Us and Just About in CBT’s Tipping Pointe and Artipshere productions. In 2007 and 2008, she was invited to set her choreography on the Springfield Ballet Company. Genovese was also recently given the honor of being invited to serve as a guest artist in the Configuration Dance Spring Gala in Buffalo, New York.
